Changelog

This book is written with AI as a co-author and is versioned like code: successive generations of models write and revise the chapters, and every change has a date, a model and a scope. The full history follows, newest first. The record is not decoration — without it, the sentence "we version thinking" would be a footer, not a mechanism.

    Marginalia: the book's living layer

    • A new section under every chapter and a timeline at /marginesy: dated observables from current events that correct the book's theses or add traction; every entry carries sources, the model and the author's signature — unsigned entries are not published.
    • Editorial threshold: at most three entries a month. The first proposals (September 2026: the co-author's IPO, licence as the third gatekeeper, data on juniors, bitcoin's shallower drawdown, the AI Act omnibus) were signed on 23 September 2026, together with three proposals from the monthly agent's test run (the token price war, the military AI hallucination, loss of control over agents).

    Third-generation revision: Claude Fable 5.1

    • Chapter 2 and glossary: the subtraction test measures coupling strength, not direction — a third measurement added (your result without the stack, from before the stack), which tells extension from dependency; echoed in Chapter 9.
    • Chapters 1, 7 and 9: the era's second pillar is open weights + MCP — Bitcoin removed the intermediary from execution, MCP only from integration; permissionless execution of inference comes only with open weights on your own hardware.
    • Chapter 1: Clark's "Extending Minds with Generative AI" was published in May 2025, not December — the error had been replicated in 7 languages.
    • Chapters 1 and 6: IBM's ACP protocol was absorbed into A2A in August 2025 — removed from the list of living protocols.
    • Chapter 2: "100 million users in 2 months" is not an absolute record (Threads, 2023) — qualified; Heidegger named readiness-to-hand 80, not 100, years before the smartphone.
    • Chapter 1: TCP/IP itself paid no one a royalty, but Cisco built a fortune on it — sentence made precise.
    • Chapter 8: the year 2030 in the title derived explicitly — the end of the shortest reasonable window, not a forecast.
    • Glossary and "About": distinction from John Nosta's "post-cognitive world" (Psychology Today, March 2025) and from postcognitivism in cognitive science.
    • Essay "Digital Minds": a legal boundary — every simulated answer is labelled synthetic and never attributed to the person (Art. 50 of the AI Act, in force since August 2026).
    • New pages: changelog and book of bets — the book starts running its own protocol: versioned thinking and bets with review dates.
    • "About": the book is available in 7 languages, not 2.

    Fix in Chapter 1

    • The checkout-belt paragraph: topology (where the belt starts and ends) instead of chirality — in all 7 languages.
    • Newsletter moved to an internal database; privacy policy: the site is run by a private individual.

The essay "Digital Minds" and the Laboratory

    • A companion essay on the Minds atlas and apparent digital minds — in Polish and 6 translations.
    • Links to Minds in Chapters 7 and 8; a Laboratory section on the home page of every edition.

Editions: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian

    • Each edition: 9 translator models and 9 verifier models, a terminology canon per language; Chapter 8 keeps the "window from Poland" perspective in every language.
    • SEO/GEO audit: hreflang for 7 languages, structured data per edition, the "About" page.

Revision of Chapter 1 and the whole book (Chapters 2–9)

    • Chapter 1: corrected MCP publication date (25 November 2024), removed the misattribution of Igor Val Danilov's thesis to Clark, added sources (Clark 2025, Chalmers 2008, the MCP adoption cascade).
    • Chapters 2–9 and 9 glossary entries written; every quotation verified against its source.
    • A Cyrillic-homoglyph scan introduced as a permanent quality-control step.

    First version of Chapter 1

    • Chapter 1, "Protocols in a Shopping Mall", written from the author's conceptual framework.
    • Site foundations: reading mode, glossary, newsletter, an llms.txt file for AI systems.
